Foods that increase your blood level

Iron is an important nutrient that is well required by the body. The dietary requirement for men above 20 years is 8 milligrams per day. For women between the ages of 20 to 50, 18 milligrams is recommended daily. Anything short of this, will lead to iron deficiency, loss of hair, constant headache and fatigue. These are the worse consequences of low haemoglobin. Here are the foods that provide iron and help to increase the level of haemoglobin in the blood.

   1.   Vegetables
Ø Spinach – This vegetable provides high amount of iron. It should be part of your daily diet. Spinach increases the level of haemoglobin in your blood. Spinach contains 4 milligrams per 100 grams of Spinach.

Ø Broccolli – Broccolli is very rich in iron. It contains vitamins A and C. It also contains magnesium too. It has 2.7 milligrams per 100 grams of Broccolli.

Ø Beetroot – This vegetable is a good source of foliate. Foliate is an important nutrient required by the blood. It is also a good source of iron and vitamin A. Beetroot helps to provide haemoglobin to the blood. It contains 0.8 milligrams of iron per 100 grams of Beetroot.

   2.   Fruits
Ø Watermelon – Watermelon is a super food that is very rich in iron. It does not only contain iron, it also contains vitamin C. It is a great source of haemoglobin for the blood. Watermelon has 0.4 milligrams of iron in a juiced cup.
Ø Apples – Apples help to boost the level of haemoglobin in the blood. No wonder there the saying: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” One Apple contains 0.31 milligrams of iron
Ø Strawberries – Strawberries contain an impressive amount of iron. It also contains vitamin A. Vitamin A helps the absorption of iron very seamlessly. There is 0.4 milligrams iron per 100 grams of Apples.

   3.   Meat
Ø Chicken breast – The chicken breast is very sweet. It is very healthy too. Many people are not aware that chicken breast contains iron that helps to increase the level of haemoglobin. It contains 0.7 milligrams of iron per 100 grams of chicken breast.
Ø Beef – Beef is another nice source of iron. Ensure that the beef is without fat. This is another way to increase the haemoglobin level in your blood. It contains 2.1 milligrams of iron per 85 grams of beef.
Ø Liver - Liver is another way you can increase the level of haemoglobin in your blood. Liver contains a lot of iron. It is very soft and contains fewer calories too. It contains 9 milligrams of iron per 100 grams of beef.

   4.   Seafood
Ø Prawns – If you love sea foods, it is another way to increase your iron intake. It contains 3 milligrams of iron per 100 grams of prawns.
Ø Mackerel – Mackerels are oily fishes that are very rich in Omega 3 fatty acid. They are good source of iron too. You can increase your level of iron intake.
